Yateley 3-1 Wycombe
We started the day wanting to right the wrongs of our previous game against South Berks. We warmed up in the teeming rain, but were buoyed by the double rainbow; we were searching for the pot of gold - 3 points!
Minorly blinded by the sun in the first half, we pretty much camped in their half for the first 10 minutes, but they broke quickly and scored a softy. We rallied together and pushed on, peppering their half until a short corner routine ended up with Martha squeezed a great pass from Foley over the line. Oh, and Kerry fell over.
Fueled by halftime e-numbers, we hit the pitch really feeling we could get these elusive 3 points. Somehow we managed to contain their whippy young A-player (decked only once by an apologetic Vicki), and we kept their (excellent) goalie busy. She cleared, but only as far as Emily who gleefully slotted it past her.
More fun in midfield as our ‘seasoned’ defence worked hard to keep up with their youthful forward line, we played some great hockey with Martha and Megan battling hard and Tracey and Emily sharing some splendid 1-2s on the left. As the skies darkened, we saw a really strong piece of play - Vicki to Foley, Foley to Caroline, Caroline to Megan who masterfully scored our 3rd.
Joint MOMS - Megan & Martha
DOD - Vicki, who inexplicably took a small nap in the second half.
