Alton 4-0 Yateley
Even the damp weather couldn’t dampen the awesome 4 spirit!
It’s a small miracle we didn’t all shrink, such was the downpour throughout the whole match, with the sky getting darker and darker! But the play on the field was bright and full of enthusiasm.
It was a fast paced game, against local rival Fleet and Ewshott, with some outstanding runs from Hannah, Sharon and Chrissie.
We should have scored 3 or 4 times in the first half with loads of goal mouth action but we just couldn’t quite find the back of the goal. kJ slammed a powerful hit into the side which was so frustratingly close.
At the other end Foley offered the calm that comes with experience (not age!)
And Millie was, once again amazing in goal, making a diving save that had us all aghast, even the defence were impressed!!
The second half got off to a rocky start, a lesson for us to be ready to go from the off, it gave F&E the opportunity to get two goals away in quick succession. Yateley bounced back and with heads held high dug deep. Vicki, Lianne and Kate all determined that no more goals would be scored this day!!
So, a 4-0 score line doesn’t look great, but I was incredibly proud to part of such a stoic, hard working team, working together for each other. Lessons to be learnt but we go from strength to strength.
MOM: Millie, closely followed by Hannah. Amazing goal keeping. What a talent!
DOD: Tracey, closely followed by Chrissie. Tracey because she still hasn’t worked out which way the umpire is pointing!!
