Match Report: Ladies 4th XI 2nd Nov

Alton 3-2 Yateley

Yateley Ladies 4’s travelled to Alton listening to the disappointing second half of the Rugby World Cup final and were determined to bring about a positive result in their own game. The Yateley team started well, but despite several short corners struck well by both Laura and KJ, a strong Alton keeper made some excellent saves. Caroline came on half way through the first half and promptly scored to give Yateley the lead they deserved. The Alton forward line were always a threat on the break and soon equalised. Just before half time, KJ struck the ball from just by the baseline of the D and Yateley were 2-1 up.

The second half saw Alton gain advantage as Yateley tired and Alton succeeded in scoring two goals to take the lead. Yateley refused to give up and their hard working midfield ensured that the fight went to the final whistle. Whilst the narrow 2-3 loss was a disappointment to all the Yateley players, the strength of their passing game in the first half was a huge positive to take away.

MOM was Clare Viney making a very welcome return to YHC after a nine year absence!
