Brilliance & Bubbles to close our the season

Yateley 0-1 Marlow

Twas the final match of the season for Yateley ladies 3s and what a match it was…

The warmup was upbeat and energy remained high thanks to the eccentric backing music from the DJ on the sideline - energy had to be high since the 3s were playing against the League winners!

Our ladies dominated the first quarter of the match with slick passes between the midfield and attack, as well as whopping hits from the back to the top corners of the pitch by Nicki, Carole and Flippa. There were some amazing attacking runs up the wings from Gabi and Hattie D, supported by Emily, Viney and Lizzie in the middle. Hats and Caroline showed off their skills in the D and created some amazing opportunities which Yateley were unlucky to not score from.

The constant hassle from Amber and Clare Plant on Marlow’s players caused them to fumble under pressure and allowed Yateley to advance further up the pitch. An unlucky goal from Marlow meant Yateley was 1-0 down at half time.

The second half continued as the first half started and there was some beautiful link up play between the defence and midfield which led to an attacking swarm towards Marlow’s net. On the counter attack, Yateley players were quick to get back and any threatening shots from Marlow were confidently booted away by Caty in goal.

The weather may have been all over the place (with a mixture of sunshine, clouds, snow and hail) but the Ladies 3s remained calm, cool and collected as always. Yateley won multiple short corners which the oppo defended successfully, and all other attempts from the Ladies in red were denied, therefore the final result of the last match of the season was 1-0 to Marlow.

We finished off the afternoon with bubbles and an indoor picnic, where there may have been an incident involving blunt force trauma to the head (sorry Gabi !!). Overall an excellent way to end the season and looking forward to a couple weeks of recovery before summer hockey starts !

MoM : Lizzie
DoD : Lizzie (I really am sorry Gabi, it was an accident, hope you’re head is alright xxx)
