TOP TOP TOP of the table!!

Yateley 7-0 Salisbury

With some league re-organisation, our Ladies 3s didn't quite know what to expect from their oppo...but were confident with a strong squad and plenty of home support.

The team started well, stealing the ball early from the Salisbury push back and linking passes together to advance up the pitch. The Press was solid from the start with Chantal, Jax & Hattie keeping a tight first line lock, containing the ball in the attacking half putting constant pressure on Salisbury defence.....short corner won!! A fantastic straight strike from Chantal Woodford, BOOM, back of the net!!
1-2s, turned into 3-4s and 5-6s up the right with Alice, Flippa, Anna, Rachel and Hattie all playing their part in making the ball do the work. A tiny tip over the defenders stick and into the D from Hattie Miles....nice run, nice strike.....BOOM,BOOM make that 2-0 :-)!!

Salisbury were able to sneak through the Press with a couple of rocket-fuelled hits to their forwards who were quick on the break. Maddy Hall, Carole Hunt and Helen Hyde managed to calmly contain and clear the ball back to the Yateley midfield. A great ball up the left wing courtesy of Hils 'Happy birthday' Hull to Jax who leveraged the 'slapping' skills from training on target....BOOM BOOM BOOM, 3-0. Chantal, never one to be out-scored, knocked home her second after a half-save to bring it to (B-B-B-B..you get the picture...) 4-0 at half time.

After a rousing team talk from Skippa Flippa (:-ยง|) the team got down to business second half. With a focus on maintaining the structure and momentum, Alice, Alice, who the h*ck is Alice, wibbled and wobbled her way up the pitch and found herself with a a free strike to pull it up to a FAB 5-0. The discipline was maintained and the team easily absorbed the pressure with some 'fluid' positioning with some more persistent Salisbury attacks. Although tiring, the linking from defence to midfield continued, with some stunning runs from Freya & a great link up to MJ & Chantal, who pushed on into the D to gain the Hat-trick.

A final score from another eagerly won short corner & Chantal closed out her day with a Hat-trick +1....definitely a jug-worthy performance and really earning her Player of the Match win.

Special mention and THANKS to FOLEY who stepped in last minute as the oppo umpire, as they hadn't quite realised they needed to provide one! & Thanks to Coach Paul for umpiring for us as well!

A fabulous start to the league by the Terrific Three's squad.....great to see we're TOP TOP TOP of the table :-)!
