Match Report: ladies 2nd XI 19th March

Newbury & Thatcham 0-1 Yateley

The sun was shining and the ladies 2’s were raring to go for the much needed 3 points to help us try and move out of the relegation zone.

White tops were distributed with a little chuckle from Dobbers who decided a size 10 top would be perfect for one of our defenders.. tee hee ;-)

We went out hard and we had most of the play in 1st half with a few near misses and a few short corners but we just couldn’t get it In. We did not give up and fought hard, still dominating the possession on the pitch.

Newbury came out fighting in the 2nd half and made some tactical changes, which made us work a lot harder. We dug deep, supported and trusted each other and played some awesome hockey. In the last 20 seconds we were still 0-0 and we managed to get a short corner.

This was crunch time for us and we knew we had to convert. JGJ sent the ball to the top of the D to Lizzie, who gently slipped it back to her, so she could scoop it into the back of the net taking us 1-0 up seconds before the final whistle.

Phew! Well deserved after a great game and we did what we aimed - we walked away with 3 points.
Mom - Jules for being an absolute terrier and some amazing runs down her wing - and even had a shot at goal!!!
DOD - Jules for forgetting to pick up the first aid kit from Anna - thankfully not required today!
