Amersham & Chalfont 1-3 Yateley 2

The L2s battle began with navigating Storm Boloe for a soggy start in Amersham. A bit of a scrappy first 20 mins as the team settled, but defenders Helen, Lianne, Sophie & Flippa still calmly keeping the Amersham attack at bay.

Yateley broke through with a darting run & skilful dribble from Megan to put the visitors up 0-1 at half time. Coach Jax rallied the troops with the chat at the break: more focus on the press, supporting passes & increased communication. It paid off with strings of passes being neatly knitted together.

Sterling work in the middle by Kaitlyn & Rachel, distributing to Sophia, Bella and Freya out wide. Second goal came from another driving run, this time from Kaitlyn.

Amersham were excellent at their press, putting Yateley out of possession more than they’d have liked. An Amersham attack…scramble at the goal… and some nifty footwork saw a goal awarded to bring the score to a nail-biting 1-2 for the last 15 minutes.

Emily’s short nap in the D paid dividends to push for a last phase of attacking play. A short corner, switch, save, rebound and Rachel was there to slot it home for 1-3 win ? ??.

Great spread of votes for player of the match, with a deserved win by Kaitlyn. DoD…. Not quite sure of the final result, which was split between sleeping Capt Emily & early panto season response to Rachel’s ‘where’s my stick?’ …. The fact Em counted the votes and kept it quiet makes me think it was Emily!!!
