Match Report; Ladies 2nd XI 16 Sept

Andover 3-2 Yateley

The Mighty Ladies 2's travelled to an exciting friendly match against Andover 2's this week. With some returning players to the 2's and some new faces we were well up for the challenge. Despite the slightly cooler weather, spirits were high as the newly formed team prepared to showcase their prowess. The sidelines were abuzz with support from Dane and Rach, bidding farewell to Rach as she embarks on her university journey this season. She will be missed.

The match kicked off with a huge burst of energy, as our team dominated the play in the initial 15 minutes. The moment of magic came when our resident Geordie, Jules, executed a perfect goal (and somewhat unexpected), sending waves of jubilation through the team. Momentum surged, leading to another quick goal to strengthen the scoreline, courtesy of JGJ.

Solid defensive work at the back from GK Gill, Hils and Kate, and some lovely blocks by the dynamic duo Hob and Dob. There were many skillful runs in the first half from Milly, Flora, Jess, Clara, Caty, Sophie and EVEN Dobbers at one point, which left us seemingly comfortably ahead with a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The second half saw the team grappling with the heat, allowing Andover's youthful legs to capitalize with three goals. While we earned numerous short corners, converting them proved elusive, resulting in a 3-2 loss.

Despite the scoreline, the team displayed excellent synergy, and everyone relished the match's competitive spirit.

The next challenge awaits as we gear up to face Marlow at home in our first league game next week.

We're ready to take on the challenge of this year's league and look forward to the upcoming battles on the field. Bring it on!
