Match Report: Ladies 2nd XI 2nd Nov

Southampton 1-2 Yateley

Saturday started very early with a trip down to Southampton to watch the rugby. First beer was in at 8:30, looking for some inspiration from the rugby team ....of which there was, unfortunately, none. Not letting the result effect our spirits ahead of our game & with the rain kindly stopping just in time for Yateley to warm up, we were ready to let Southampton what we were made of.

From the first whistle Southampton got us on an early break and scored the first goal. We didn't let this get us down & pushed on ...equalising soon after. Tensions were high from both sides with eyes on the points, but an ‘inspirational’ talk, from slightly under-the-weather, Captain JGJ, meant Yateley came back fighting.

Yateley attack obliged the defenders with a relaxing 2nd half, keeping the ball in Southampton half. Still searching for the winner, but the ball just couldn’t get past their solid keeper. The team's minds were just starting to settle for a draw in the final few minutes, but there was a magical break on the left. With a free hit going our way, and using this to our advantage, Hattie drove the ball down the line with searing pace getting the ball passed their centre back and slipped the passed the defender where we heard that amazing back board and took the win!
