The journey down the Winchester was fairly simple although Frances (as always) managed to mess that up by coming off the M3 at the wrong junction!
By the time the whole team was assembled in Winchester we had little time to warm up before push back. The game began fairly evenly with both teams having some chances. It was only a matter of time before the deadlock was to be broken and it was Yateley to do so. A well executed short corner slipped in by Gill gave Yateley the lead. From then on the going was tough with both teams battling for a goal, Yateley for a cushion and Winchester to get back into the match.
The half time whistle blew and both teams were ready for a break after a thrilling first half battle.
The second half was much of the same with Yateley clinging on for victory. It was so nearly another story, with Winchester winning a penalty corner just minutes before the end of the match. Yateley’s defence held strong and cleared away the threat to end the game with their 3rd consecutive clean sheet.
An excellent team performance where Yateley battled hard for a well earned victory!
