Great Hockey from our Juniors!

YHC U14 girls took on Romsey today in a wet and windy affair.

The girls didn't let the conditions bother them and played good, passing hockey.

It was a very even contest with good midfield battles and chances at both ends. Goalie Kayleigh was on hand to repel a number of chances that Romsey created.

The girls defended a number of short corners and didn't really look particularly flustered about anything Romsey threw at them.

Caught on the break Yateley went down a goal just before the half time break.

We always felt there was a Yateley goal in the offing and after a sustained period of pressure Yateley won a number of short corners. Romsey, however, defended well.

It took a momentous solo effort from Lizzie Messanger, who ran the ball quite literally from our 16 all the way up to the Romsey D, where her parried shot was turned in by Josie. Just superb.

Yateley held on at the end, defending solidly for 90 seconds of continuous attacking in our 23.

What a performance. All the girls played really well and though we've mentioned a few names every single one of the players today know how well they performed. The futures bright, the futures red!
