U12 Boys Lose to Aldershot & Farnham

The U12 boys went into the game off the back of a heavy defeat to Alton and were hoping for a closer fought competition with Aldershot & Farnham. The initial signs were not looking positive as the ball repeatedly found its way to the A&F forwards unmarked in the 25m area resulting in a goal within the first three minutes. Going a goal down so early could have made the Yateley defence drop their heads and concede more, but they rallied together and some smart tackling and fine saves from goalkeeper Jerome Nuthall kept the score at 0-1 going into the first break.

Some minor tactical changes, which saw Samuel Burnett move into defence for the first time, gave a much better balance to the team. Mid-way through the period, a fine run through midfield by Jacob Sealey got him clear of the A&F midfield and an expertly weighted pass through the defence was picked up by Lucas Cripps who finished with composure to bring the scores level. Further chances were had at each end and Yateley were unlucky to concede a further goal towards the end of the period.

The last period was much the same as the 2nd with both teams having chances to score. Yateley again drew level through a Jacob Sealey / Lucas Cripps combination in almost a mirror image of the first goal. Some excellent defending by Yateley kept the scores level, but with tiring legs, the A&F forwards found some extra space and took the lead in the final minutes of the game which left no time for a reply from Yateley and the ended 2-3.

Coaches player of the match was Lucas Cripps and a special mention must go to William Sealey from the U10s who played his first game for the U12s.
