Today saw Yateley U12 boys start their league campaign with an away fixture at Camberley & Farnborough Hockey Club. Turning out a squad of 16 players, including several boys who have just moved up from the U10 squad, it was an exciting time to see how they would fare.
The boys settled well and played some great passing hockey, putting the pressure straight onto the C&F defence, which very soon resulted in an early goal for YHC. Buoyed by this early lead the boys continued to play sensible attacking hockey which led to a second goal within the first 10 minutes. However, a quick break from C&F soon put the score to 2-1.
After conceding this goal the YHC boys settled again, with Lucas Cripps and Samuel Burnett commanding the midfield, and the attacking hockey continued with a further 7 goals for YHC. It was a great team performance and the perfect way for them to start the season.
