Oppo goals against the run of play
Fareham 4-0 Yateley
5-4 before the match was abandoned.
That’s 5 foot long sausage rolls to Harrison and 4 to Matthew before the supply was over and the competition to eat the rather curious teas had to be declared a draw on a technicality akin to losing the ball.
The game was an odd affair. The preceding game over ran and so with a 5 min warm up on the pitch we were away. Yateley dominated possession for the first 15 mins. Possession of circa 80% and 5 short corners, but Yateley were unable to score. On their only foray in the Yateley half, with a long ball from a free hit, the ball ricocheted off an attacking stick and that was a goal conceded against the run of play.
In the second half it remained a close game possession wise, but sadly with 11 players vs 14 the final score of 4-0 did not reflect the game.
Sam, Nick and Owen did not stop running, and Owen, exhausted at the end of the game walked away with Man of the Match.
