Yateley endured a disappointing defeat to Southampton Uni and missed the chance to go top of the league. Soton dictated the game from the start and were soon 2-0 up and pressing for a third. On an all too rare counter attack Jon Underwood drilled home from the right of the D to get Yateley back into the game. 5 mins later Yateley struck again, this time breaking down the right with Darren Skinner drilling a cross for Jason Kean to bravely sweep home past the keeper. In the second half a re-shuffle at the back and midfield improved Yateley’s play and they took the lead following a short corner which, after the initial shot had been saved by the keeper, eventually broke to Jason Kean to squeeze over the line. The momentum at this point was with Yateley but they couldn’t hold onto their lead long enough, and as the game progressed the superior Soton fitness told as the scored twice more to secure what was a deserved victory.
