Yateley travelled to play a Fareham side who had experienced a mixed start to the season having suffered a heavy defeat followed by a crushing victory in their opening 2 league games. With Fareham sporting 4 subs it was with some apprehension that Yateley tried to start brightley on another unseasonally warm day. It quickly became apparent that Fareham had kept their strongest players through the middle, sacraficing the wings with a rotation of youngsters. This suited Yateley's passing game perfectly as they settled down to control the game and creating plenty of chances. Despite squandering several short corner opportunities in the first half Yateley still took a 3 goal lead into the break, with goals from Ben Renshaw (2) and El Capitan David Woods with the other. The half-time chat was very much more of the same whilst being more clinical in front of goal. 3 quick goals at the start of the second half secured the points, including Ben scoring his hat-trick and a first ever goal for Yateley for Craig Boorman. Also on the score sheet was defensive midfielder Ian Holden, who despite complaining about a bad ankle and supposedly only able to anchor the midfield, scored from 2 yards out. By this point a select few in Fareham's side wanted an argument with anything and anyone, however Yateley kept their discipline well (with the exception of Andy Peace who had a spell of time out at the skippers request before the umpire sent him there!) and scored another 3 which included the second hatrick of the day for the skipper to deliver a comprehensive victory.
