Men 3s get back to winning ways with a solid 2-0 win.

Another loverly warm Saturday afternoon greeted the Mens 3s as they looked for revenge against Bournemouth, having narrowly lost 3-2 in the away fixtures. But we are a more confident side then early in the season, and that showed as we pretty much controlled the game from start to finish.

With the evergreen (but not ever available) Andy Speed upfront goals were expected, and duly arrived mid-way through the first half following a great long ball from the back - from somebody! - which picked out Speedy's run and he drove hard into the D before drilling a shot across the 'keeper and inside the far post. At this point we dominated the rest of the half and despite lots of pressure and good passing a quality final ball or the shot was lacking several times. Angered after James Woolner tried to break his nose with the ball, a short corner was blasted hard and low by Dave Sumter to make it 2-0 at half-time.

More of the same was the orders from peg leg skipper David Woods. Kind of happened in that we didn't let Bournemouth back into the game, but we didn't keep possession or territory as well and we playing more on the counter attack. Chances were had but we didn't work their young 'keeper enough. James Woolner might say he would have but Andrew Peace bravely stopped the ball with his body in front of the goal, much to the delight of the Bournemouth players!

Overall a solid performance and a second clean sheet in three games bodes well. Another 3 points to be had at Southampton next week!!

MOTM: Dave Sumter
(closely followed by fellow central defender Justin Hatch)

DOD: Darren Skinner for falling over like Bambi despite running in a straight line with no-one near him.
(Technically it should have been Andrew Peace for stopping a certain goal, but the text votes were too late and Woodsy is a stickler for rules)
