3 on the BOUNCE for Yateley

The Yateley boys came into this fixture against Chichester with the wind in their sails. Having won the last 2 games against tough opposition we were strong favourites to take another 3 points. However, Yateley looked very lacklustre from the moment the whistle blew, finding it difficult to string passes together and get a rhythm on the game. Chichester threatened in the opening 15 minutes, keeping our solid defence on their toes. This was followed up by a great reaction save from a resulting short corner by goalkeeper Lee Cresswell to tip the ball round the goalpost. Yateley had to adapt quickly to an unfamiliar bouncy pitch before danger struck. Possession has been a key factor in Yateley's success as of late and it proved evident in this fixture too. A delicate through ball by Justin Hatch bounced kindly past the Chichester defence and was deflected sweetly into the bottom corner by right back Dan Cundy, much to the delight of the away side. With the score 1-0 at halftime Yateley knew Chichester would come back fighting in the second period. The boys soaked up a lot of pressure throughout the half, with the opposition directing the ball largely through the centre of the midfield. Stuart Brimble, Darren Skinner and Nathan Foan put in great leg work with the increased intensity of the game, filling in the gaps all over pitch and distributing the ball to the wide men to continue our attacking prowess. Yateley kept plugging away at the Chichester defence but still couldn't find a way to double the lead. Late in the game, Chichester were getting frustrated by Yateley's vice like grip so decided tactical fouling was the best policy. Much to their dismay Yateley held out for those all important 3 points and still climbing up the league to 3rd place
