Off to Winning Ways

Perhaps a bit early for 6 pointers, but with Chichester traditionally a lower finishing side, it was crucial to get the season off with a win. The 3s didn't disappoint winning comfortably in the end.

At the start of the match the reds came out flying and Martyn Chapman could have had scored a hat-trick within 10 mins. A weaving and age defying run from Ali Hay (must have been due to bringing the out of his league lady along for the first time?!) on the right saw him cross to Dan Osler to finish neatly. You would think with us in the lead and Chichester barely out of their half we would have had it won by half-time. Instead we conceded possession regularly and were losing territory. The pressure told in the end with a well worked attack down the right saw Lee Cresswell with little chance against a hard high effort.

A change in formation at half-time following the re-appearance of Lee Clark (having visited the Hatch Daycare Centre during the first half) saw a much improved Yateley. Goals from Stuart Brimble, determined finish through defenders; Dan Osler, short corner but was it actually going in when it hit the defender?; and Darren Skinner following a well worked move finishing the game as a contest.

Other than a 15 minute spell before half-time it was a promising performance. Likely to be tougher matches ahead, the next two weeks away at Wimbourne and Bournemouth for a start, but it was the best first league match performance for a couple of years.
