Yateley 9-0 Bicester
So, what does playing two great halves of hockey deliver? A 9-0 home win against Bicester that’s what!
Having been stuck in a lower gear during previous weeks it was great to put the pedal to the metal throughout this game. Even before the game started, keeping an eye out on how the opposition warmed up, watching short corner routines and their strikers obvious leaning towards reverse hitting only helped us set out some of our tactics required ahead of us.
Into the game, the ball gets knocked around for a bit as the sides settle in. Score or upgrade is always the call, well we didn’t score but we did get a penalty corner from which we did score with Darren sweeping in off the keepers' pads. Next up was Josh to take the score to 2-0 at half time by lifting the ball over a floundering keeper to finish a great team move and score his first goal for the 2s.
It’s at this point having played a solid 35 mins that we would typically sit back and cause ourselves a whole heap of trouble in the second half. Not this week however as we dominated with a solid wall defence leading to an attacking midfield and fluid forward line closing out the second half with a further 7 goals with 1 more each for Darren and Josh, 2 goals apiece for Louis and Liam (4*jug avoidance) and a cracking strike from Craig.
All in all, an impressive team performance which needs to be backed up next week against Eastcote.
MoM awarded to Nick for an outstandingly confident game.
