Match Report: Men’s 2s 5th Oct

New Forest 2-2 Yateley

Mens 2s started the first half strong against New Forest, carving out a lot of close chances, but weren't clinical enough to take the lead. Lots of patient passing and possession lead to Yateley’s control most of the first half but with nothing to show for their efforts it left them feeling frustrated and searching for a way through.

Things took a turn for the worst when New Forest ended up breaking the deadlock, making the most of a missed decision, scoring on the break. Yateley feeling a little hard done by battled on and went for the equaliser, carving many more chances and piling on the pressure.

But again New Forest tore the seams of the Yateley dream, scoring again against the run of play! Yateley, baffled, had to fight and had to battle. 10mins left and staring defeat in the face, the 2s pushed on. 3x short corners later and some very close chances, Yateley finally converted their short corner with a well timed reverse strike from Dan Jones.

With fire in their bellies and tails up, Yateley wanted more. Was there time to snatch a point...it sure seemed like it. Believing it was possible and working hard as a team Yateley pressed high and put the pressure on!

Another short corner, this time a drag from Lee Cresswell, blocked on the line by a defenders body! Flick given and up steps young super star Calum Henderson. The pressure and importance of this moment couldn't be higher. Faith in the young talent......could this be his moment? Save the men's 2s from defeat and prove his brilliance as a flick taker??... Only time could tell. Yateley huddled in hope and watched as the youngster took up the challenge and the world on his shoulders.......GOAL! Unbelievable penalty flick into the roof of the net! Yateley celebrated like they had won the cup. A fantastic moment for the youngster, the mens 2s and the club!

Man of the match was Lee Clark for an incredible match performance and calm under pressure.
