No dampening the spirits of our superstars!

Yateley 6-1 Bournemouth

After the depressing day the week previous with not only being beaten by the students from Southampton Uni, but also suffering the loss of the springboks ruining the world cup, Yateley turned up at their home pitch in Eversley, hungry for a win.

The importance of the game against Bournemouth 2’s was reinforced by the Reds mighty captain (Darren Collins) in his pre-game talk, letting everyone know a win would put us at least at 3rd place. The team, now fully ready, took to the pitch to warm up raring to get started in this pivotal game.

The game started with the majority of the position and game play going Bournemouth’s way. They moved the ball comfortably and quickly round the back getting the ball in space up to their forwards. The Yateley team however rode the wave and eventually started to
pick their game up to match their opposition. As their confidence grew the ball started to move around the Red team quickly and started to find their forward unit also. This resulted in short corners being won, by no other than short corner winner extraordinaire
Chris Hogg. It only took 2 short corners to go Yateleys way for them to get the scoring started with a delightfully taken drag flick by Dougie Joyce.

1-0 up Yateley were where they wanted to be….in the lead. Soon after this though Bournemouth, looking to be in a good position before the half time whistle was blown, threw an unorthodox pass over the heads of the Yateley defence to their striker lurking in the reds D, a touch over the so far, untested Darren Creswell saw the ball trickle into the Yateley goal. Half time came 1-1.

With only 3 points covered in the half time team talk the Yateley team lined up eager to have a better half. The half started almost identically to the first but this time when the play favoured in Yateleys way they really made a difference.

With a good tackle in on the oppo’s 25 yard line Darren Collins passes the ball to Dougie who absolutely spooned his pass to Hogg waiting on the P spot. Somehow though the Bournemouth defence allowed the ball through their sticks to which Piggy calmly put in the goal. A Gifted 2-1 lead.

Shortly after, another short corner came for the dominating team. This time the call for the classy yet sexy Irene was made. What a decision, the ball dispatched from the top was sweetly deflected by Ian Roper into the bottom corner. You have done it again Irene,
3-1.

Yateley now fully dominating the game weren’t finished there. With the winning of a long corner came a long sought after goal. Some people thought it was a myth, cast into legend after many attempts and 0 success from any and all teams across the land. The long corner, taken by the captain was delivered onto deflection king, Woodsy (otherwise known as Dave), the ball then travelling to the p-spot of the Bournemouth team was picked up by Dougie who with a quick turn and hit effortlessly put the ball in the goal for Yateleys 4th of the game. The story has already been carved into stone of the YHC club house.

There were two other goals as well but this match report is getting long….. another for Dougie Joyce and another for Piggy also, both goals were TOTALLY EPIC!!!!!

Star performances from James Moore, Ian Roper and hatrick hero Dougie Joyce. Yateley now sit in second ahead of their away game next week at Trojans.
