Hard fought, casualty-ridden battle...

Havant 4-3 Yateley

The ladies 2s took themselves off to Havant for a very early start
against the team sitting alongside them at the top of the table.

The day started well for some, less well for Alana who managed to
forget all of her kit! Luckily super spectator Clara came to the
rescue as chief lender!

After a quick warm up the game started with an early goal from the
opposition and, although Yateley were fighting back, Lizzie ended up working so hard she had to take an enforced 10 minute rest - whilst
the oppo tended to a potential broken shoulder.

Yateley took full advantage of a short corner with our first goal of
the match from Alana with only 10 players on the pitch.

Dobbers stepped up into Lizzie’s position and maintained a strong
spine to the team.

As soon as Lizzie ran back on the pitch Havant took advantage of the
confusion and scored their 2nd goal.

With continued pressure in the Havant ‘d’ a 16 was awarded that was lifted into Hattie’s head shortly before half-time. Hattie reluctantly
left the pitch, but showed great passion & returned in the 2nd half.

Havant scored a couple of quick goals at the start of the second half
which kicked Yateley into gear. Yateley were very much the dominant force in the last 20 minutes with Hattie scoring a wonderful deflected goal from Janette’s cross. From a short corner, Yateley won a flick,
Hattie, full of confidence, stepped up but it was well saved by the
keeper.

Determined to keep us in the game Janette slotted in our 3rd nicely,
to keep the spectators on edge and the oppo nervous.

Yateley kept striving for the equaliser and could have had many more short corners.

In one of the many attempts to score, Nat came off worse in a colliding I’d heads, but carried on determined to get a goal.

The final whistle came just a few minutes too soon and the 2s fell to
their first defeat of the season.

It was a fine performance from the ladies and score line did not
reflect the effort and determination shown by the whole team.

Mom; shared between Dobbers and Hattie
Dod: Alana for leaving her kit at home!
