Hat trick hero James does it again!

Yateley 6-2 Haselmere

Yateley Men’s 2XI were fired up in preparation for their first league fixture against a close league rival.

After last week’s effort against a much stronger team, Yateley’s focus was very much about continuing the hard work and pushing for that desirable win on home soil. Yateley kept to the tactics and high intensity from the previous weeks, dominating the first 10mins with pressure, creativity and a bombardment of attacks. It was only a matter of time before Yateley felt like a goal would go in. They didn't imagine that it would be going in their goal though. A miss communication between umpire and players, with the ball clearly 2 foot over the back line, the whistle didn't go, Yateley confused and bewildered then lost concentration and the striker tackled the centre back and tapped the ball in. Yateley responded well and reapplied the pressure. They won 3 short corners on the bounce and it was 3rd time lucky as James Woolner strolled in at the top of the D to draw the sides level.

The screw was turning and 5 minutes later, Jim Boffin attacked with pace and slid the ball past the stranded keeper and giving Yateley a well deserved lead. Wave of attacks followed with Jake Morgan tearing down the wing several times and slotting in some glorious chances for Yateley strikers.

Captain Phil Cundy had 2x chances cannon of the post and Chris Renshaw having 2x sublime strikes saved by a rattled Haslemere goal keeper. Yateley pushed on and on and scored again with James Woolner cooly beating the keeper with a low reverse shot for his second of the game.
As the minutes ticked by and the chances flowed, a crowd of Yateley supporters gathered to spur on the mens 2s to drive on and grab a convincing win. Somw quick passing and another fantastic run by Jake Morgan got the Yateley tails up again cheekily slotting the ball back to a free Jim Boffin who calmly stuck the ball in the back of the net for 4-1! Haslemere seemed deflated and upset. Haslemere channelled this anger and began a wave of attacks back on Yateley who had to try holding their composure. They found an overlap and a free man emerged unmarked on the p-spot, allowing Haslemere a free shot at goal that was slotted in for 4-2. With a 2 goal buffer and a vocal crowd willing on a massive Yateley win, the Mens 2s went goal hunting again, over crowding the D and hungry for goals. Jake Morgan turned on the rockets and burnt the right back for pace again only to shoot this time from the top of the D and finding the back corner for a fantastic individual goal and a 5-2 lead.with 5 minutes left Yateley became relentless. 2x chances blocked on the line with feet and body but the umpire gave no flicks. Yateley took the resulting short corner and with little hesitation, James Woolner became the mens 2s second Hatrick hero of the season with a beautiful reverse strike, rocketing past the Haslemere defenders on the line.
A cracking effort put in by all, with plenty of chances and a home victory. Winners wear Red!
Congratulations go to Man of the match and Hatrick Hero James Woolner.
