Alton 2-3 Yateley

On a hot and sticky Saturday morning Yateley ladies 1’s turned up against a feisty Alton squad. The game started well with some slick sideways passing resulting in 2 early goals for YHC. Gemma scored the first goal from a cross into the D from Mel, taken well with a first touch into bottom right corner. Lynn got the second from a straight ball though the middle, taken early into the channel and finished with another first touch shot.

YHC got a little complacent and Alton clawed (literally) back 2 soft goals to even up the score into half time.

A strong half time team talk from Captain JCG urged players to release the ball early and show some fighting spirit.

The second half was a tight fought affair with not much between the teams. Alton were warned about deliberate fouls but this did little to calm the game.
Late on, our perseverance at short corners paid off and a deflected shot from Frances was picked up by Gemma on the reverse for a winner.

A further goal for YHC was disallowed after umpire deliberation, much to Yateleys disappointment. Alton pulled their goalkeeper and stuck another player up front which resulted in a frantic finish.

A well fought win for Yateley guarantees them a top 5 finish!
