Chichester 4-0 Yateley

The Ladies 3s travelled to the depths of Chichester with a team of willing and able players - albeit deft of the usual 3s suspects due to non-avails or moving on up the teams!

DoD was decided rather early as an untypically non-focused Skippa Flippa missed car parks and pitch completely :-(. The disadvantage to all is that you get my long-winded prose of a match report (hah, that'll teach y'all!).

An inspiring team talk to the pure 11 players was received with delight - particularly for those stretching their comfort zones to play in completely new locations on the pitch. Well received, along with the day's 'ask' of EFFORT and COMMUNICATION to match the tough Chichester oppo.

Our positives of the day: we won the toss, we hit the backboard first (but unfortunately was not allowed...still trying to understand why, but decision accepted in good spirit), we kept pushing right to the end, there was GREAT EFFORT and we COMMUNICATED for as long as we had breath...then we concentrated on breathing - which seemed the greater priority.....

Carole had a blinder at the back, with The Hunt Block in full force - sometimes against a player at least twice her height (and 3 times Rachel's). Nay was all over the place - you just can't stop this girl running!! She gave us great attack in the first half and great defence in the second, and really deserved her Player of the Match award for her play and such a positive attitude throughout. Caty was darting all over the place and played with 100% commitment, despite knowing she had to do it all again whilst helping out the 2s later in the day. Amber had great runs on the left and looks great when using her natural speed and nifty roll-outs. Caroline took her role as Inner to heart and had a stunning performance - amazing tackles, marking in the defending D and skill getting round players in the middle of the field.
2-0 down at half time, we knew we would flag in the 2nd half as the heat turned up and the lack of subs would take its toll. Great advice from Chrissie C at break and some fantastic commitment, meant we did get some attacks going second half, but kept cool under heavy pressure on the defenders. Gill kept out many many strikes with super saves, the remaining Salter, Rachel, did a stint as a half as well as attacker and put in cracking tackles and lovely stick skills to foil the oppo!

All in all, a great performance and positive team spirit in a difficult situation, which kept to only a further 2 goals conceded second half to take the final score to 4-0. With true team spirit, many of the players dashed back to YHC to support the remaining home games. Well done ladies! #greatspirit #proudskippaflippa
