Frustrating finale....

Yateley 2-4 Trojans

The ladies 3s started strongly after pre match kerfuffle getting the oppo into a temporary away strip. The press was really effective and ensured the reds kept the ball in their attacking third... some good runs into the D and shots on goal... unfortunately some great saves from their keeper.

Trojans were quick on the break where the ball did manage to break through the press, but solid tackles by Carole ‘the wall’ Hunt, Keeper Salter & newly promoted Maddy Hall kept things tight at the back.

More attacking runs on the right by Flippa Messenger & some great linking between Freya Marshall, Jackie Sleigh, Anna Holden, Chantal Woodford & Na Lynch proved training triangles really work!

Yateley were finally rewarded with a cracking goal from Na to break the deadlock. Phew... 1-0!

The disciplined press started to lag a little and Trojans managed to switch the ball at 16s. An attacking run, foiled by a dramatic tackle from Flippa somehow earnt her DoD (apparently the splits weren’t done with enough finesse!), but another break saw Trojans the equaliser against the run of play.

Excellent insights from the sideline helped in the half time team talk, but the structure went as the team tired & injury meant a switch around of positions. Trojans broke through and scored to make it 2-1 and netted another quickly after.

A great work rate by our inners and space on the left freed Abi Brooks to push forward with some great shots through from Crasten. Another break, but with some rallying to defence by all players, Trojans slipped their 4th over the line despite a goal line scramble which MoM, Carole ‘the Wall’ Hunt almost won.

Credit to the team, heads stayed up and Chantal cracked Yateley’s 2nd home with 5 mins left to play.

Final score, a disappointing 4-2 loss. Team focus will be on maintaining discipline in the press and structure as we play league leaders, Hamble, next week.
