Winning ways!

Yateley 4-3 Romsey

After back to 3 consecutive losses the Mens 2s were buzzing to get back to winning ways. An early start at home to struggling Romsey, the men's 2s were quietly confident with good vibes filling the air and determination to get a winning start for the club at stake.

Battling the scrappy and gritty style of Romsey who are clawing away to stay up being the game to Yateley with a few early chances. The game started hard and fast with both teams carving chances and working hard to draw first blood. Yateley tails were up after a few half chances, when legend Lee Clark fired a rocket into the roof of tje goal from the top of the D. Yateley then took control and worked hard to double theor lead over the next 10mins. Youngster, Ben Hopper turmed on the burners and accellerated away from 2 defenders and broke free on a long run. He chose a cracking ball through to Lee Clark, who calmly slotted the ball in for a 2-0 lead.
Brimble questioning a decision got himself a naughty boy green and took time in the sinbin to think about his behaviour.

The momentum began to swing and 2 great short corners got the scores back level at 2-2 and yateley left stunned. An over turned penalty decision left both sides emotional charged and the short that proceeded was fired in for Romsey to take the lead 3-2.

Yateley determined to get anything from this game dug deep and with another rocket being fired into the D from Lee Clark, captain Phil Cundy dinked the ball over the on coming keeper as he got wiped out. The ball dropping softly into the goal. He didn't know much about it but it was that little bit of luck that Yateley needed to get them back on track.
Yateley pushed hard and with the final throw of the dice, a great ball across the pitch to Calum Henderson was well controlled and fired home for his first goal of the season! 4-3 win and Yateley snatching the 3 points, sending Romsey home deflated after a great battle on the pitch!

Man of the match was Lee Clark for a great performance, calm under pressure, 2 goals and an assist.
