#hotstuff... A romantic stroll in Camberley!

Camberley 0-2 Yateley Flames

In a week with a Royal Wedding, the potential murder of a journalist in a Saudi embassy and Willy’s birthday, the only thing everyone has been talking about is the Strictly snogging controversy. Perhaps appropriately Jon chose today to have his own Frenchy!

It was the Flames first away game of the season, the team looked resplendent in their red shirts in the fierce sunshine. Alberto, always keen to stand out, looked dashing in his controversial choice of an all white kit. A unique style decision that earned him the DOD award after the game.

The game started and the Flames were ahead in the first 5 minutes. Dominating possession and playing nice triangles, set up Liam, our youngest player, in front of the encroaching keeper. The shot was calmly taken against a 6 foot keeper....1-0.

Perhaps the whole team were lulled into thinking many more might follow. Without realising Yateley changed formation to what can only be described as a 5-5. This confused both Yateley and the opposition and a scrappy game played out until half time.

The second half was far more eventful. The heat meant both sides were a little light on their usual energy levels. A few “tired” tackles from a couple of the opposition, some of them even off the ball, ensured additional energy levels were found. Their centre forward, with a shirt declaring his name (or pastime) as Frenchy, and Jon our very own centre back were having a good natured battle. I am not sure if they met up in the car park to re-enact the Strictly scene, but we are sure they didn’t swap numbers.

Darren seemed to be the focus for a 10 min window that had one Camberley player comment “nice of you to bring a ringer” after a trademark Skinner run from the back.. Quite the compliment and then 2 mins later an even greater compliment. Another Camberley player was convinced Darren was Jon F. A natural misunderstanding and one we make every week. #separatedatbirth

Yateley gradually got back to the tried and tested structure and in the last 15 minutes there were many lovely pass and moves. Leading to an Arsenal style 5 man passing move which was expertly finished by Ollie, his first adult league goal.

Our two youngest players scoring the 2 key goals. A classic Flames result.

A joint Man of the Match for Ollie and Sammy and the undefeated start to the season continues.

Who will Jon (or is that Darren) be romancing next week?
