Victory on the South Coast for the Terrific 3s #winnerswearred

Southampton 0-2 Yateley

Saturday the 12th January saw the return of the Mighty ladies 3’s. Set ready to blow the second half of the season away. We travel down to Southampton, everyone arrived safely the big question was; Does everyone have a shirt?...because Naomi (DoD) forgot them and it was a long drive home, but luckily for her everyone was suited a booted ready to go. With no where to warm up, it was a road run up-hill (No joke) and our new warm routine once on pitch, we were ready to go !

First push back would be Southampton’s, but we made sure that their possession of the ball would not last long. With some quick work from our inners and forwards it wasn’t long till we were in the D. Unfortunately we struggled to find the goal but not through lack of opportunities of effort, Southampton’s goal keeper and backs where very strong. But this did not deter the Ladies 3’s we knew we would get a goal we just had to keep trying. The ‘experiences’ ladies out playing the young legs saw a fantastic set up from Laura to Chrissy who make a simple but perfect touch into the goal!! It wasn’t long till the half time whistle and Southampton hadn’t been able to make it to our D (Jill you lucky thing).

With the Christmas (leftover) Jelly Baby’s being handed out, The Master Plan was developed on how we would walk away from this game victorious.

The second half, proved again how well the Ladies 3’s work and play on a hockey pitch. With brilliant long balls and short sharp movement we made light work of Southampton’s defences. However, that pesky Goal Keeper was just always in the way. But we battled one… Finally a long ball from Naomi found Chrissy who showed us all how to find the back of the net, 2-0!!! The final 15min saw a frantic Yateley due to fatuige and confusion (easy done in this team) but with the ‘Wall’ that is Carol back in the team nothing was going to make it to our goal.

The final challenge of the day was to make it up the hill for the Sausage (x2), Chips and beans.

A fantastic clean sheet and 2 goal win, it was an outstanding performances.

Well done to everyone on who played, with many playing out of position and other working their socks off. Congratulation to Chrissy for her 2 goals, Anna for girl of the game, Chantal for NOT getting DoD and Na for claiming that reward instead!
