Solid performance for our development team!

Southampton 2-0 Yateley

So, this week was a trip down the M3 to Southampton Uni. It rained all the way there, but once again held off whilst we played, much to our relief. The awesome 4s are just getting better and better each week, with great passing, great communication and great running.

Player of the match was Sienna with a breath taking run, or should I say everyone just stopped, stared and held their breath as Sienna calmly ran down the wing toward her own goal, ran across said goal and back up the other wing toward the opposition, passing to Maddy who was stoic throughout the match, showed great awareness and strength on the wing. All the juniors played with great maturity.

This was Caitlin’s first game and she slotted in perfectly, Hannah was so in control in midfield Its easy to forget she’s still only 17!!

There was a great triangle going on with Caroline, Hannah and Sienna, creating space and opportunity. Amber, who runs like Usain Bolt, seemed to get to every stray ball. So, that just left us oldies to compete for DoD. Foley forgot her shin pads, Kate (complete with shower cap) took a detour down the M3 on her way to teas but Tracey proudly retained Snoopy by leaving her hockey stick at the pitch.

Well done to Helen and Chrissie for fighting hard up front, never giving up and demonstrating that not all the grownups are candidates for DoD. What was the score line? We lost 2-0 but we definitely didn’t deserve to. Caty is so brave in goal, it’s frightening to watch!!

Congratulations to Southampton Uni and the umpires for a very fair and free flowing game. Onward and upward Awesome 4s!
