Hard fought battle...

Winchester 5-1 Yateley

On this "VERY" windy day down in Winchester, and with Winchester 3rd from the top, Yateley knew this was going to be a tough game and didn't want to lose ground on the teams above them.

The game started well with both teams having some good possession although the Winchester attack once again had pace on the Yateley defence and within no time Winchester were a goal up.

But Yateley fought back with several short corners that were so nearly in the back of the net. But then a free hit was won outside the last 25 and with KJ hitting a superbly accurate ball, straight to Chrissie Collins stick, we were 1 a piece.

The game was well balanced for long periods of time, but when Winchester got into the "D" they were precise and although Helen had a superb game in goal again, the ball was whizzing around the "D" and eventually got past us twice more.

Half time was 3-1 which was a reasonable scoreline.

Second half Yateley were much better all round and stronger and more disciplined at the back. Ambers speed up front put the pressure on Winchester and with Caroline gaining some great posession, Yateley looked like they could score a few more goals. Hannah was great in the midfield managing to hold up play nicely. KJ also did some great defending as well as being in midfield and up front, the ground she covered was amazing. Along with Chrissie Collins who once again showed how mobile she is, even though Winchester put a youngster on to mark her, Chrissie still got past her. Well done Chrissie, brilliant game!

5 minutes from the end, the score was still 3-1 which was brilliant, but then a few tired passes in the "D" gave Winchester 2 gifted goals, but the scoreline did not reflect the game at all.
