... who needs more than 10 players to win??? Not the terrific threes !!!

IBM Nomads 1-3 Yateley

A crash on the M3 caused chaos to the team’s warm up routine and it looked like we would be forced to start the match with only 8 players on the pitch. However, luck was on our side and everyone arrived just in time and we started with the full complement of players.

After a series of strong attacks, including several short corners, Jax put us ahead with a sweeping shot into the corner of the goal, 1-0 to Yateley. Caroline took a ball to the early in the half and courageously limped on before succumbing and taking herself of the pitch. Towards the end of the first half Nomads took advantage of a fast break and equalised the score to leave it 1-1 at half time.

After a solid team talk at half time, reminding us to stick to what we know, Yateley came out for the second half with a renewed sense of purpose. With strong attacking runs and simple passing, we began to take control of the match, winning short corners and pushing Nomads back into their own half. After a few attempts Yateley reclaimed the lead with a cracking short corner from Alice. At this point Nomads seems to gain a new lease of life, forcing the Yateley defence to put in some decisive tackles.

Despite some on pitch tension from the opposition, Yateley kept their cool and scored a break away goal with lots of linking passing, to make the score 3-1 with 10 minutes to play. Yateley held their nerve and sealed the 3 points – A great team effort.

MoM: Alice, with mentions to Rachel and Jess (on debut for the 3s)
