Smashing!

Havant 0-10 Yateley

Smashing the word of the game. And, my, how the Yateley Ladies 3’s lived up to it.

But we will start with the trip down to Havant. A car from Hartley Witney (the posh folk), a car from the club and a few stragglers, all 13 of us made it to the coldest changing room in christendom.

The warm-up was farm-themed; shoo the chickens, milk the cow and step over the sheep are just a few to get you thinking.... don’t knock it till you try it! After we hit a few balls and took the team selfie (hair looks its best at the start). One BIG Yateley shout and we were off!

The game started well winning the toss, yes Skip, and we went for the fast pace at the start - smashing it down the pitch getting the ball high early and taking Havant by surprise. This is where the ball stayed for the majority of the half.

There was lots of early shots on goal but their goal keeper was on good form. However, Yateley Ladies just keep coming and weren’t going to rest. After the first goal went in from Jax ‘in her Christmas hat ’ the gates opened; another goal for Jax assisted by Laura C from a short corner, and a hat-trick for Naomi. She took brilliant faceplant/forward roll (I’ll give it a 8/10, saving all her nails and ear but lost a lot of skin). Naomi was subbed off and elected dick of the day :-(. This gave way for Chantal, who got on, got it in and jogged it back to the half way line with a shrug of the shoulders. Cheeky and casual.

Now, we wouldn’t be a true team if we didn’t let out defenders and Goalkeeper have a bit of fun. So every so often we would sit back and watch Carole, Lauren and Gill save our bacon. Had to make it worth the trip.

And that was only the first half, when Yateley Ladies go for it, they go big !

The second half, had the making for triple jugs with the Goal wonder Chantal scoring a second, with ease, I must add. Then came Alice, who left a party just to play (don’t blame her we are an absolute treat), smashed her first one in and her second a lovely deflection off Laura C short, B-E-A-utiful bit of hockey.

Again some amazing opportunities of all the forwards, the returning mummy, CJ, was nailing the ball with near misses, Caty was working her but*, off even making it into our defending D (Mum/ Gill had words). And Caroline, well… after tripping over her feet, then the ball and then just having a sit down, she gave Naomi a run for Dick of the day. For a first game with the 3’s she absolutely smashed it and definitely fits in.
Abi and the Skip Flip worked crazy hard on the wings. The may not a made it on the score sheet but the assisted many of the goals.

The final goal came from the girl of the game and the Dick of the day Naomi making it 10-0 !!!!

Sorry what was the score……. 10 - 0 !!!!!!!!!!!

A clean sheet and 10 goals, that just what we do !

SMASHING :-D
