Yateley 9-0 IBM Nomads

The Ladies 3s were keen to put their first defeat of the season behind them today when they took on IBM Nomads at home. Disco Fever was the theme of the warm-up, with shimmies, jazz hands and bus stops on show to warm up the bodies.

The aim of the game was to bring the fun and the goals back into the game and we sure did deliver! A solid start with some good passing in midfield and some positive attack into the D gave us a few early opportunities and a couple of short corners, but we were unable to get the ball across the line. Finally, after 19 minutes, Caty struck the ball sweetly from a strong hit into the ugly zone to score our first goal. Disco Fever continued with the requirement that any goal-scorer had to display their best dance moves in celebration! This goal, allowed the team to relax into some good patient passing and three more followed before half time with a good goal-line scramble from Jax and two great strikes from KJ, one at a seemingly impossible angle!

A quick team talk at half time, reminding us to release the ball early and move the ball round the defenders, ensured that we kept the momentum going. Gill, in goal, stayed alert to kick out any dangerous attacks and quick and accurate hit outs from Lauren and Carole at the back ensured the team kept attacking. Five more goals followed in the second half from Na, two more from KJ, Alice and Caroline. Despite our best efforts to set Flippa the Skipper up for her second goal of the season, she was denied by the post in the first half and by the goal keeper on a late short corner.

A great team effort today, which has lifted the spirits again and reminded us of the effectiveness of simple, patient play.

MOM: Caty for excellent work all over the pitch (especially for the camera!)

DOD: Alice for stepping on her own stick and falling over.
