Top performance by the gals with a wonderful win at home!

Yateley 4-1 Basingstoke

On Saturday the ladies 3’s played Basingstoke; second in the league and unbeaten this season...no pressure then! Preparation was key...but it became apparent during the warm up some members of the team were still overcoming indulgences of the previous evening - early DoD awarded. But there were more warm-up challenges: unable to defy the laws of gravity with falling (pushed) over, creaking (bit of WD40 needed) and the worm (great dance move)! Definitely the best warm up I've been part of.

But, I can happily say playing hungover is fine if you have: blue Gatorade, the wind pushing you along and fantastic team around you. The Ladies 3’s are just that!! For the whole game the team play with fun and laughter, taking the pressure right off and brought everyone talents out and on show. Following Captain's pre-match tip, that possession is 9/10s of the law, we had lots of opportunities at goal and narrowly missing some of them but not all! In Caty’s cheeky style, she nutmegged the keeper & took us into the lead. The defensive wall that can never be broken (Gill, Laura and Carol) made light work of Basingstoke attacks keeping a clean sheet in the first half. Adding to our brilliant performance and to keep our fans entertained CJ blasted in the 2nd goal. Giving us a comfortable lead going into the second half.

Re-fuelled on more blue Gatorade (it was a big night) and Jelly Babies we set out to stay on top in the second half. I can’t put it any other way than we where outstanding, we even passed in triangles - multiple times, occasionally stringing triangles together!!

Some second have chat-back distracted us momentarily and Basingstoke took their chance to slot in a as they were able to get a goal in, 2-1 and we where running up hill and into the wind. Then a short corner was won by Yateley (this could be our moment)... well let say it didn’t go to plan and a 7v3 break was on (an oh S!#T moment) but, as I said before, we have an unbreakable Wall at the back and some top quality sprint back from the midfielder to guarantee no goal would be scored.

We got knocked down, but we bounced back up again & it wasn’t long till we smashed the ball in the back of the net again, this time Chantal the owner of the power ball. 3-1 up, check us out !!

After we caught our breath there was one more moment of magic... with an intentional pass through her own legs from CJ set up the Chantel who crossed the ball to Anna who was waiting at the P-spot to drum home that we where the best team on the pitch ! The goal was also described as ‘Sexy.’

A well earned, desired and brilliant 4-1 victory for the Ladies 3’s set them up with two games to go to potentially hold the top 3 spot :-).

Keep following our results to find out... we play Portsmouth away next week... with pre-match, laser-like focus ALL evening on Friday...together..........oh dear, Nay is showing us the way!

PoM - Chantal
DoD- Naomi (hungover and locked out of her own car)
