Yateley 3s show their winning ways in IoW

Yateley 3s won

The Ladies 3s ventured overseas for their non-match against the Isle of Wight. Despite a choppy start on the 10am Wightlink ferry, the team spirit shone through with great work by Foley and Jaynage on small bottles of Merlot. There were some gaps between the forwards and the backs on the journey to Ryde
where many cars were able to split the defence. The team managed to re-group in the seafront car park, prompting a short refreshment break of hot choc and brownies to boost the energy levels once again.
The team rallied demonstrating great speed, agility & control on the Penny Falls where rewards were aplenty (cards, torches, key rings, sticky men?, bouncy balls and some out of date moams & sherbert sticks); Foley and Jaynage took the glory with an amazing 2:10s to clear their pots.
The team forged ahead together- through the snow drifts and blizzard conditions (kidding Ellie- there was NO snow!!) to the Super Bowl arena where youth v experience pitted against each other. Some ingenious backwards bowling was witnessed by eventual top scorer, Nay Lynch, to close the half in buoyant mood.

Half time refreshments veered away for the norm of jelly babies & wine gums to the delights of MaccyDs & pub grub. This was the only period that the team lost its cohesive bond. Fortunately this was short lived, with excellent fluid consumption at the local W’Spoons where a new skill of ‘at table ordering’ put the team further ahead on their road to victory.

The second half progressed at pace with brilliant navigation up the side streets towards the goal of The Smokehouse. There was only momentary confusion as Nay attempted to find her super suit following her ‘hero’ award for top bowler.

Back at the ‘clubhouse’ room 102 was agreed to be designated party room. Fantastic skills shone through as Nicki’s home-brewed limoncello proudly supported the Asteroid Belt game which resulted in late injuries for Nicki, Nay, Jaynage and Foley. This was particularly sad for Foley, who had shown such promise in the early stages; her injury proved to be her final play in the non-match, in what was all-in-all a great performance.

With such competition for Player of the non-match, the only fair result was for the joint team win. DoD was landed early (Ellie..!!!!) for fear of frozen seas!

Final score was definitely a team win for Yateley 3s. A fantastic end to a challenging season proves we’re always winners (off the pitch).
