Yateley 0 West Meon 4
With consistency in the team and great team performance the previous week, Yateley 3s started the game in positive spirits. The first 15 minutes were scrappy with continuous stop-start from both sides fouls which meant the flow took a while to get going. Yateley had good pressure in attack, with much going through the left side by strong individual play by Clara Miles and Becks James. A flurry of penalty corners for the Yateley team demonstrated the persistence in attack, but despite a mix of routines, there was only small satisfaction in near misses. With good connection between the midfield and forward line, the team were hopeful of another solid performance and therefore disappointed to go down 0-1 after a break by West Meon which left the Yateley midfielders too high to support the defence. Conceding another goal shortly after knocked the team confidence and resulted in more individual play than leveraging passing to eliminate the West Meon defenders.
The second half saw more of the same with end to end attacks - however, West Meon were able to convert their opportunities where Yateley were not, even following great defensive work from player of the match, Nicki Smith and keeper, Gill Salter. There was a glimpse of the teamwork which has been building over the past weeks for only a short period in the second half, and Yateley will need to focus on that for their upcoming match against Winchester next week. Final score, a disappointing 0-4
