The goals are acoming, but not enough of them to match the oppo!

Yateley 1 Basingstoke 4

A great opening 15 mins again from the Ladies 3s, who looked on the prowl for a win and some well-needed points on the board. Hattie Miles opened the scoreline with a great probing attack to beat the keeper. The home team looked comfortable in their attacking half, but gaps in the middle meant Basingstoke controlled the midfield and were rewarded with a score from the top of the D which evened the game.

Yateley continued to defend solidly and with the same tenacity as has been demonstrated all season, with good solid tackles from Jenni Smith to frustrate the 'Stoke attacks down their left. Unfortunately Basingstoke slipped another one past Keeper, Jammy, just before the half time break.

Boosted by Jelly baby refreshments, Yateley began with some more control and linking passes up the left between Carol Hunt, Clara Miles and Caz Woolner at the beginning of the second half, but Basingstoke had also upped their game and were able to play the possession game more effectively. An attack from the right saw Basingstoke take the score to 1-3 with the ball passing into the net at a near impossible angle. They closed the score with another goal just a few minutes later.

Player of the match was shared between Hattie Miles and Caz Woolner.

It's been a tough season for the 3s, but the spirit of the team won't be dampened; their last game is next weekend and sees the opportunity to end the season on a 'high' both on and off the pitch with a mini-tour to the Isle of Wight next weekend!
