Match Report: Ladies 3rd XI 10 Feb

Phoenix Ladies 3s 0 v 2 Yateley Ladies 3s

The ladies 3s were a blended team of 3s and 4s this week but no less determined to get points on the board. Defence heavy but with a great balance of youth and experience the team settled into the new formation well. Charlotte Emily T and Sharon attacked as a unit down the right to make the Phoenix defence work hard. Jo made a welcome return the pitch in the midfield, solid and composed. Mid way through the first half Niamh and Emily CA broke down the left and fired the ball across the D to a waiting Sharon at the back post who slotted home. Kerry, Carole and Vicks kept a tight ship at the back and at half time kept the lead.

Phoenix came out strong in the second half, but the Yateley defence continued to work hard. Helen was forced to make a save mid way through the half. Yateley regrouped and when Emily T made a run into the D was awarded a penalty corner - Lianne stepped up from the back and struck a thunder bolt past the keeper. 2-0. Yateley kept up the pressure - Caroline coming close to a third late on but the game ended 2 -0. Such a great team performance with many worthy candidates for MoM - but it was awarded to Jo - welcome back :-)
