Match Report: Ladies 3rd XI 6th Jan

Yateley 2-1 Reading

L3 took to the pitch to play one of our postponed pre Christmas games. We were up against 2nd in the table Reading 7s but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits.

Possibly carrying a few too many mince pies on board we were pleased to see a few available subs.

Details are hazy (maybe due to work party the night before), but the highlights were
Helen - defending her goal admirably and making some crucial saves,

• Carol, Nicki and Flippa - working as a team and breaking down their attacks before sending the ball back up the pitch ,
• Alyssa, Tanya and Izzy - work rate in the mid field was clearly not affected by the break and was on point as usual
• Megan and Niamh - working equally hard in the middle, closing down their players and driving up the field

• India, Emily, Sharon and a welcome appearance from Lynn - causing disruption in their defence and covering back when needed.

India opened the scoring with a nice little slot past the goalie from open play. Unfortunately they equalised before half time which saw the score at 1-1.
Boosted by sweets and a half time talk we stepped back on the pitch with a win to be had and that’s what we did. Flippa sealed the deal with a lovely straight strike from a short corner to put us 2-1 up. They wanted the equaliser but we denied with a great team effort.
