A hat trick of wins!!

Aldershot & Farnham 0-4 Yateley

Still buzzing from their 7-0 victory last week, Yateley were ready to fight for another thee points against local rivals Aldershot and Farnham. It seemed that a pattern in away day weather was forming for the Ladies 2s, with the white shirt and pouring rain combination giving off more wet t-shirt contest vibes than the elite hockey athlete look we were going for.

With the team nearly back up to a full squad, minus an injured Lizzie accompanying our devoted supporters on the side line, Yateley started as the attacking side from the outset. Aimee was quick to unleash her pace on the ball, successfully winning Yateley’s first short corner of the game. A top of the circle strike from Alana was guided into the back of the goal with a stunning finish from Aimee to open the scoring within the first two minutes of the match.

Spurred on by the early lead, Yateley continued with their attack, passing the ball with speed and accuracy between the mids and forwards. This soon resulted in a perfectly timed cross from Aimee, slotted into the bottom right-hand corner by Nat to make it 2-0.

Whilst Jo and Lucy were making light work of any attempt at a break from Aldershot & Farnham, Dobbers could be found making a dramatic entrance into the D and sliding straight into the DOD position. Another short corner was soon awarded to Yateley, and following a little guidance from the side line, Nat was able to send the ball this time into the left-hand corner, for the third goal of the game.

After the half time break, the conditions seemed even more cold and wet than the previous 35 minutes. A charging start from Aimee soon warmed everyone up again, as Yateley persevered for another goal. The entertainment in this half came from Hills managing to amaze even herself with some interesting stick skills on the side line.

As Yateley pressed on, our hard work was finally rewarded, with Hattie in the right place at the right time to dink in a smashing cross from Jules, making her the only 2s player to score in every league game so far, and bringing the game to a close at 4-0 to Yateley 2s.

Even though there was no individual hat tricks this week, it makes it a hat trick of wins for the Ladies 2s, who remain at the top of the table.

MOM - Lucy for exceptional work rate and defending

DOD - Dobbers for her slip and slide into the D and a few swings and misses
