Southampton started strong with lots of pressure on the Yateley ‘D’, but the defence held strong. Southampton kept probing and eventually got their reward, going 1-0 up.

Yateley pulled themselves together and started to gain some dominance on the pitch. Having got their rhythm back they soon started creating chances and challenging the Southampton goal.

After a persistent attack from Yateley, Janette finally got a smooth through ball and smashed it firmly into the back of the net showing Southampton Yateley’s full intention to not give in.

After half time, Yateley carried on how they finished the first half, creating chance after chance, unlucky not to score a few more.

From a sideline hit, Lizzie took the ball into the 23 and cracked it in for a text book deflection from Nat for Yateley’s second.

Southampton then came back scoring from a quick break away. Determined not be beaten, Yateley showed off their excellent teamwork and worked hard to create more chances, which eventually resulted in Nat’s second goal of the game.

Yet again, Southampton broke away and after an unlucky deflection, putting the ball in the air, they equalised.

With only 8 mins to go, Yateley were still fighting hard and creating lots of chances in the Southampton goal area. Finally from a long corner, Alana crossed the ball along the goal line and with the help of a Southampton stick, the ball was through the keeper and into the back of the net.

Yateley held firm for the final few minutes, coming away with their fourth win from four games, knackered but very happy!
