Terrific performance & a gift of 3 points in Santa’s sack!!

Winchester 0-1 Yateley

On a dull and dreary day, Yateley Ladies 1s headed to Winchester to take on third in the league. With a bright and composed start, the game flowed with both sides having a couple of chances. With the ball starting at the top of the Yateley “D”, short sharp passes saw the ball travel from Frances out to the right to Lizzie who travelled down the wing at pace overcoming a number of tackles to pass the ball into space to Lynn. Having squared up her defender and beat her well, Lynn squared the ball to Lauren in the ugly zone who finished the move with a one touch finish to put the ladies 1 up! Holding their shape, the team battled hard to make it to half time in the lead after a short break in play to carry Caz to the bench after a hit to the knee.

Determined to start the second half as they finished the first, the team continued to work hard to stick to their players and work the ball up the pitch as a unit. Joint winner of man of the match Nicki kept the team in the lead with a number of ninja saves during the second half. Amazing effort from the whole team allowed the ladies to absorb loads of pressure and retain possession when they had the chance.

3 points and a clean sheet topped off a positive start to the season and have left the team buzzing for the New Year!!
