Oxford Hawkes 4-2 Yateley
The Ladies 1st XI went to their game v Oxfords Hawks on the back of a win and draw in their opening two league matches.
Yateley came out really strong and an accurate pass out wide from Miles to Ruth, saw Ruth drive into the 25, where the umpire played some good advantage, run the baseline and slip the ball to Kealey, who finished confidently.
Unfortunately, Yateley could just not maintain that momentum and conceded quickly as Hawks seemed to find space all over the pitch. The work-rate from Yateley was excellent but we unfortunately ended up going into half-time a disappointing 3-1 down.
The second-half saw a much-improved performance. It was a physical match with Ellen ending up with a bloody nose and grazed forehead from a badly timed tackle and face-plant in the 25 (only worthy of a free-hit though!).
Yateley threw everything at trying to get another goal. An unfortunate error in the middle of the pitch meant that Abbie faced a 1v1 with Hawks centre-forward and the Hawks player brought the score to 4-1.
Yateley continued to apply pressure and won several corners that they just could not convert.
Yateley did manage to get one more goal from a Kealey run down the right, which Nat managed to push just past the keeper. The Hawks GK made several great saves and Yateley were unlucky not to score again. The match ended 4-2 to Hawks.
