Yateley 1-1 Newbury & Thatcham
On a bright but chilly afternoon Yateley 4’s took to the pitch with a win on the road last week looking to replicate the performance at home. At the start of the game Yateley began with a fast attack towards the N&T end. This was however quickly thwarted by the defence and it turned into an attack for N&T which our steady defence took control of.
It went back and fourth like this for a while. Late on in the half, our attack won a short corner after some quick skills and a foot in the D. Using their favourite routine Jacob and Josh combined to score the short corner putting Yateley 1-0 up. We stayed steady for the remainder of the half and went into halftime 1-0. Halftime refreshments of wine gums and Haribos provided a welcome sugar boost and we were ready to go again.
The second half started slowly but N&T were getting more of the ball in midfield and putting pressure on the Yateley defence. We stood strong and repelled a number of attacks. Yateley had some good attacks but couldn’t break down a stubborn N&T defence. Late on in the half N&T pressed forward again and won themselves a short which they were able to convert. 1-1. Despite a frantic last few minutes of Yateley pressure we were unable to secure a match winning goal and the final result was a 1-1 draw.
A great game and continued the momentum of all Yateley home teams being unbeaten today.
Congratulations to Jacob and Jason winning the combined MoM.
