Match Report: Mens 3rd XI 27 Jan

YATELEY 2-5 WINDSOR

Yateley started the game on the front foot but were hit on the break by Windsor who went 1-0 up. Things then got worse for Yateley when we allowed their number 5 to twist and turn and put Windsor 2-0 up.

Yateley responded well and when Callum was brought down for the second time in identical circumstances where we won a Penalty flick, as Callum had entered the D. Unfortunately Ollie struck the post with the flick.

Yateley continued to press and got their reward when Christopher deflected the ball into the roof of the net, which had been worked on in training. Yateley went into half time 2-1 down.

The second half started much the way of the first and Yateley were rewarded when Christopher finished off an excellent dribble from Ollie for his and Yateley’s second.

From this point Yateley should have pushed on but were quickly hit by an excellent reverse strike after allowing the Windsor forward into the D.

Unfortunately the game required numerous umpire interventions, culminating in a yellow for each team. This environmental played into Windsor’s hands as their more experienced team were able to capitalise by scoring two further goals against Yateley who continued to push to get back into the game.

It was a very disappointing afternoon for the expectant crowd.
