Match Report: Men’s 3rd XI 11 Nov

Amersham & Chalfont 2-7 Yateley

A cold but sunny Saturday saw Yateley 3’s take the long away trip down to face Amersham & Chalfont. After a warm up on the concrete car park & 5 minutes on the pitch, the whistle was blown and the game was underway.

Without Captain William Russell available today, Danno took over the captain role and provided a solid base at the heart of the defence all game. From the first whistle, Yateley were on and started strongly. It only took 10 minutes for the first goal of the game, a short corner well won by Zac. Ejected by Jayden, the ball came to the top of the D to Kevin, who was only ever sticking it one place - into the bottom right corner.

A flurry of chances ensured and before you know it, Yateley had their 2nd of the day with a strong finish from Callum Coxheaed. More and more chances ensured but the half ended 2-0 to Yateley.

After a solid chat, the boys were back out there ready to continue their solid first half - and that they did! Within 15 minutes of the restart, Yateley were 4-0 up after another goal from Kevin and a sublime solo effort from Ollie Webster, running down the byline and placing a lovely lifted ball into the back of the net.

4-0 up and crusing, Yateley let themselves slip and Amersham got 2 goals back in fairly quick succession, which kicked Yateley back into action! Two quick goals of their own, with Callum getting his 2nd of the game and Kevin getting his third (looking forward to that jug next week!)

Right at the death Yateley won a short corner and Kevin (not contempt with just a hat-trick) got the ball at the top, took it round two Amersham defenders and smashed the ball home through the legs of the keeper.

Whistle blown, a well deserved victory for Yateley, 3 more points and a 7-2 win final score.
