Match Report: Men’s 3rd XI 23 Sept

Reading 0-1 Yateley

After a long trip to Reading university, Yateley were fired up and looking to start the season off with a win. a new captain taking over no one knew what the outcome would be.

Yateley started the game off not giving Phoenix and Ranula a chance to get their grip into the game. This led to in the 27th minute a scuffed reverse hit by Charlie was hit into the middle of the D and slotted in the reds first goal of the new season by Chris Wright. Things looked good from here with the boys constantly piling on the pressure and not allowing Phoenix and Ranula a chance to have the ball much.

The first half had ended with Yateley in good form and going into the break having the better of our hosts.

The second half started, and we weren’t as energetic as the first half, but the boys dug deep and creating chances after chances with the keeper keeping them just in the game. Towards the end of the game, we maintained possession as much as possible searching for the first league win of the season.

The full-time whistle blew and there were some great performances out there. The best being Darren skinner who went on to win MOM. As first games go it was a very good start from the Yateley boys and we will be searching to make it 2 wins from 2 in our home game against Wallingford.
