The juniors season came to a close today with the girls and boys under 10 sides competing in the county In2hockey tournament in Haslemere.
The girls team started off with an impressive 3-0 against Havant, Ellie Hudgens being well rewarded for putting off a family trip in order to take part today with 2 of them. Against Andover the girls were very unfortunate to lose 1-0, having dominated the whole game only to see a goal sneak in in the dying seconds. A goalless draw followed, and they went in to the last pool match against Aldershot and Farnham knowing that a win might be enough to take them through. They started well when Megan Hancock kept her cool to put away the rebound after somehow managing to shoot against the goalkeepers head! Unfortunately despite a great effort from all of the girls they were unable to prevent an equaliser so had to be content with having played well and had fun. Like the boys, the girls worked hard for each other today and I am really proud of the spirit in which they played and how close they came to making it through to the semi finals.
